Hemorrhoids 20 Tips Part 2

Tip 11. Cleanse the problem area frequently with warm water. A hot bath for fifteen minutes a day is quite helpful. Avoid bath beads, oils, and bubbles added to the water. These can irritate sensitive tissues. Warm water reduces swelling and eases pain. At all costs avoid using soap products to clean the anus.

Tip 12. Warm sitz baths are especially beneficial. Take a mineral sitz bath daily.

Tip 13. When sitting use soft cushions and avoid sitting on hard surfaces. Do not use a donut shaped cushion and just try using a soft full one. The doughnut cushion actually increases pressure upon the hemorrhoidal blood vessels which aggravates the swelling and bleeding.

Tip 14. Use proper lifting techniques. Remember to bend your knees and not your back. Try not holding your breath as you lift. Holding your breath will put enormous strain and pressure upon the hemorrhoidal vessels. Proper breathing is taking a deep breath and exhaling at the moment of lifting. Again, make your legs do the work, not your back. It goes without saying that if you have hemorrhoids you should avoid heavy lifting as much as possible.

Tip 15. Get regular moderate exercise. An active lifestyle will reduce the chances of hemorrhoids returning.

Tip 16. Avoid strong or harsh laxatives. Most of these products will induce unnecessary straining at bowel movements and often creating a condition similar to diarrhea. Using chemical laxatives will not provide the healthful benefits that natural substances can. Laxative products will also cause the bowels to become dependant upon them for normal functioning. Avoid these chemical preparations and use a stool softener such as aloe vera or prune juice.

Tip 17. Avoid using rough toilet paper. Use moistened toilet paper or baby wipes instead. Try to find some medicated pads with witch oil which will reduce swelling in hemorrhoids.

Tip 18. Avoid inactivity. Don't sit or stand for long periods of time. If sitting for extended periods of time can not be avoided, then take frequent breaks. Short exercise breaks to stretch and move around is good for circulation, the back, and the legs.

Tip 19. Avoid products containing ibuprofen or aspirin for hemorrhoid pain. These types of medicine can actually worsen hemorrhoids. Instead, choose pain medications such as acetaminophen such as found in Tylenol, Datril, Valadol, and other products.

Tip 20. Read through this website and discover many non-traditional methods that have helped thousands upon thousands of people with relief of the hemorrhoids.
