When the swelling of the vein starts to protrude in the external region of the anus, this condition is known as prolapsed internal hemorrhoid and can be very painful.

The good thing about this condition is that the veins can be pushed back to its normal location in the anus but there is the danger that it will swell even more and become entrapped. Once this happens, the supply of blood may become hindered and the vein will die which can lead to infection. When this happens, it may extend to the entire body and can make you critically ill. While the normal bleeding related with hemorrhoids is not a reason to panic, it can be risky if you are anemic or taking blood thinners for whatever reason. Likewise, too much bleeding aside from bowel movements is certainly alarming.
