Treatment for Internal

Hemorrhoids

A hemorrhoid is a condition that has afflicted lots of people world wide. A hemorrhoid usually happens to a person when he or she has reached middle age. Because hemorrhoids have been laughed at time and time again, some people who have been afflicted would rather ignore the fact that they have hemorrhoids.

They may just do some research on the internet about how to relieve their painand how it can be treated. But is it sufficient enough? If you have external hemorrhoids, researching for herbs, ointments or ways to comfort yourself may be best. However if you have been suffering from internal hemorrhoids it may be best to ask a doctor for help.

Internal hemorrhoids are characterized by symptoms that include you seeing blood droplets in your stool, toilet bowl, tissue paper or underwear. If the situation is not taken care of immediately it may get worst and might need various medical treatments like surgery. This article will help tell you the medical ways of removing hemorrhoids.

Anal Dilation:

It is now very rare to use this technique. However when it is used it promotes the healing of the hemorrhoid and relives the pain. In this procedure the anal sphincter muscle is dilated or stretched to prevent the increase of rectal pressure form the hemorrhoids. This also helps the rectal canal prevent to be strained when one is taking a poop. Elderly people or those with weak sphincter muscle are not suggestible to be subjected under this procedure because of the side effect of anal leakage or fecal incontinence.

Rubber Band Ligation:

This method has long been used since the times of Hippocrates. The concept of this procedure before is that they tied a thread at the internal hemorrhoid to stop the blood circulation. Currently, doctors will tie a special rubber band on the base of the hemorrhoid. The hemorrhoid will then shrivel and fall off after a week because the band has cut off the blood circulation.

This is usually done on prolapsed and bleeding internal hemorrhoids. It is done without any kind of preparation in the doctor’s office. One would just need to be mentally ready that the doctor will stick his hand in your ass. If you have multiple internal hemorrhoids, the doctor will ligate them and band them one at a time over a period of time. They are usually treated one month apart.

These are only a couple of ways of how one person can treat hemorrhoids that are now in advanced stages. If you would not want the procedures to get this bad, you better go to your doctor immediately if you feel or just think that the blood you see might be caused by hemorrhoids.
