Thrombosed and Bleeding
Hemorrhoids
Thrombosed hemorrhoids come from the word “thrombus” meaning “clot”. These form of hemorrhoids are basically clots in the rectal veins just beneath the skin. Some thrombosed hemorrhoids can be felt and seen and in this case, they are called external thrombosed hemorrhoids that can either be soft or hard.
The affected veins in thrombosed hemorrhoids are in effect “strangled” and that’s why they usually turn blue in color. If a thrombosed hemorrhoid becomes inflamed, the outer skin can turn red. Generally hemorrhoids can be easily treated by using hemorrhoidal creams or taking warm baths or getting more fiber in the diet. But for serious thrombosed hemorrhoids, a surgery must be undertaken to excise the clot.
When an experienced anorectal surgeon grossly examines a hemorrhoidal tissue, the assessment of its histology may not be very rewarding. It is very important therefore that the tissue found must be sent to the laboratory for microscopic evaluation. The routine classification of external hemorrhoids are the underlying pathology and symptoms, bleeding resulting from blood clots that have eroded, residual skin tags that are sure to cause hygiene problems and thrombosed veins.
The word hemorrhoid, when spoken by ordinary people, is taken to mean the symptoms caused by enlarged hemorrhoids. They forget that all people have hemorrhoids…yes, even healthy persons! Hemorrhoids only become a disease when these blood vessels become inflamed, prolapsed or thrombosed.
Bleeding hemorrhoids, by it’s name, is literally bloody pain in the ass. And when a person experiences it, he is sure to have an internal hemorrhoid because an external hemorrhoid does not bleed. An internal hemorrhoid bleed because of the frequent trauma it experiences from passing hard stools and extreme force during bowel movement.
This is easy to notice when you see reddish streaks in the stool. Bleeding hemorrhoids are extremely serious and a person who suffers from them should immediately consult a doctor.
Thrombosed hemorrhoids can also bleed but not in the same sense as that of a true bleeding hemorrhoid. Thrombosed hemorrhoids are said to bleed because the blood pools in an enlarged vein causing it to create a clot or a thrombus.
Clinical studies have long proven that people who have low-fiber intake are prone to hemorrhoid because of the hard stools produced. Hard stools are more difficult to excrete because of the required greater force needed during defecation. Doctors also agree that pregnancy is also a factor in the formation of hemorrhoid because of the pressure exerted during childbirth.
The weakening of muscle anal strength during aging also contributes to hemorrhoids,
particularly the prolapsing hemorrhoids.
