Hemorrhoids Surgery

Most hemorrhoids can be cured with normal and natural treatment. However often times the hemorrhoid persists and doctors will usually recommend surgery to remove the hemorrhoid lump. Generally speaking you will not have to go for surgery to cure yourself of hemorrhoids and the home treatments will work. However, if your case is severe and seems to be persistent and resistant to home remedies then hemorrhoid surgery is highly recommended.

The basic types of hemorrhoid surgeries are:

. Clot Removal

Clot removal for external hemorrhoids is a surgery that can be done with very minimum complications with a competent doctor and as a bonus there is very little recovery time. A doctor will apply some anesthetic to the infected area and then simply cut the clot out. While the area heals it will be tender for a while but the hemorrhoid will be gone. This procedure is not a preventative one and steps will have to be taken after surgery to ensure no return of the condition.

. Rubber Band Ligation

Another option that is quite common is rubber band litigation. This is used primarily for prolapsed internal hemorrhoids. It is, like clot removal, a simple procedure. A physician will take a small rubber band and position it around the hemorrhoid. The constriction of the rubber band will cut off the blood flow to the hemorrhoid causing it to wither away. In a case of multiple hemorrhoids usually one at a time is treated and then only one hemorrhoid is treated every month. This procedure is not a preventative one and steps will have to be taken after surgery to ensure no return of the condition.

. Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is also known as injection therapy. This is used for curing small internal hemorrhoids. First a hardening agent is injected directly into the hemorrhoids causing a loss of circulation. This, like the rubber band litigation, will cause the hemorrhoid to shrivel away. The main difference between rubber band treatment and sclerotherapy is that sclerotherapy can be applied to multiple areas at once. However it isn't as effective on larger hemorrhoids as rubber band litigation. This procedure is not a preventative one and steps will have to be taken after surgery to ensure no return of the condition.

. Infrared Coagulations

Infrared Coagulations is used for smaller hemorrhoids both external and internal. Infrared light and electric current are used to burn off the hemorrhoids. This is done by the doctor aiming an infrared light at the base of the hemorrhoid. This causes the hemorrhoid to clot, then shrivel, and finally recede. There have been reports of people feeling some pain during the treatment due to the heat involved and side scarring around the swollen area. This procedure is not a preventative one and steps will have to be taken after surgery to ensure no return of the condition.

. Hemorrhoidectomy

This is a form of laser surgery that is only used for the most severe cases of hemorrhoids. Usually physicians only recommended this in cases of large internal or external hemorrhoids that have become extremely painful or itchy. During this procedure, the hemorrhoid is surgically removed under anesthesia using either scalpels or laser. For this type of hemorrhoid surgery, you will usually need to be hospitalized and a recovery period will be necessary. The surgery recovery period usually last for about 3-10 days in the hospital and up to 4 weeks at home. . Infrared

This treatment is used on smaller thrombosed hemorrhoids instead of laser or scalpel removal. Basically the procedure involves using an infrared light to burn off the hemorrhoids.
