Home Remedies of Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoid is a disorder that had existed for probably as long as the written history of humans. Thus, there is also a wide range of home remedies that are applied to help ease, if not treat, the inflamed anal varicose. We will describe some of them here.

The most commonly used to soothe the pain are ice packs. But you don’t want the ice to have direct contact with the swollen tissue. The ice must be wrapped in soft cloth.

Another common method is the sitz bath or warm bath. The anal area is soaked in warm water. Herbal extracts are added to the water to provide relief. Some of these herbal liquids or teas come from chaparral, from strong oak bark, and from witch hazel. Sitz baths are especially used when acid from urine and other toxic discharges have exposed raw skin.

Onions are also used to relieve and eventually treat hemorrhoids. What is traditionally done is to chop or grate at least two cups of green onions. These are then blended with wheat flour. The mixture is fried in animal fat until it is smooth and looked like an ointment. When the ointment is cooled, a thick layer of it is spread over a cloth and this cloth must cover the entire affected area. The cloth could be tied like a big diaper. And you will wear this onion-lined diaper for two nights.

If you cannot tolerate the smell of onions, you may use a mixture of a teaspoonful of cornstarch and an ounce of vegetable oil. Blend this thoroughly and apply the mixture as salve. Many have claimed that this method has cured difficult hemorrhoids.

The rest of the home remedies can be described as the intake of herbal plants. For example, taking two teaspoonfuls of apple cider vinegar with a glass of water after every meal would stop the bleeding of hemorrhoids. If there is no apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon of cayenne pepper will be a good substitute. After several days, when the hemorrhoids have disappeared, you may lower the dosage to once or twice a week. This is to prevent the hemorrhoids from appearing again. Cayenne has been known to help the blood flow more freely.

Your province or country may have its own famous way of dealing with hemorrhoids. You may try it cautiously and in small doses at first. Then, listen to how your body responds. The safest way, however, is to drink plenty of water (at least eight glasses a day) to soften the stool.

When home treatment methods do not work, it is best that a doctor should be consulted. The presence of hemorrhoids should not be ignored nor the pain just endured.
