More Herbs for Hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoid is a condition that has been afflicting lots and lots of people. People who have this condition often decide to just leave it alone no matter how irritating, painful, or itchy it might be. This is because people believe that it will eventually heal by itself especially the external hemorrhoids. They are accurate about it that it will eventually heal by itself. But it might take a very long time.

Bromeilin:

It is a combination of digestive enzymes found in pineapple. It has properties that can be able to stop swelling and inflammation. Bromeilin has been used to treat other vein conditions which include hemorrhoids, varicose veins and other chronic vein insufficiency.

Plantain or Plantago Major:

It is a fiber rich plantain that has been traditionally used to treat hemorrhoids. Allantonin is natural compound that is found in plantain. It can stimulate the immune system and helps the skin be healed from wounds because it is an anti-inflammatory agent. It has also been used when powdered to treat ulcers and skin lacerations.

Pilewort or Ranunculus Ficaria:

It is a very traditional herb that is used to treat hemorrhoids and piles. It is called pilewort because early herbalist though that the physical appearance of the plant served its function. If you haven’t seen one, the pilewort tubers look like hemorrhoids. It can be made into tea or as a tincture to be applied for external hemorrhoids. If you want after drinking the tea, you can use it as treatment for your hemorrhoids. Pilewort is not a popular choice because they sometimes cause blisters and has not been scientifically studied that much.

Aloe Vera:

It has always been considered as a cooling and soothing astringent. The gel that comes form its leaves can be used to relive the swelling and pain of external hemorrhoids. Aloe Vera latex can also be used as a laxative agent. It can be used to prevent further constipation and prevent the dry stool to irritate the hemorrhoids. Use this with caution because it is very potent and is best if combined with other herbs to use against constipation.

Witch Hazel:

A common ingredient used in creams and ointments for hemorrhoids. The extracts of this shrub has been used already for a long period of time to reduce the swelling and inflammation of external hemorrhoids.

Cranesbill:

Native Americans have been using this wild germanium plant to treat digestive conditions. It has a potent substance that also treats hemorrhoids.

Psyllium:

It has mucilage and high fiber content that is used as a natural laxative as well. Water is absorbed by the husks of the seed and keeps the stool mist and soft. Since it helps reduce constipation it reduces the chances of hemorrhoids to flare up and helps it heal naturally. Drinking a lot of water will help take advantage of the full benefits of Psyllium.
