A pain in the butt!

These words of Neil Armstrong about hemorrhoids may be more inspiring today for some. “One small problem for man, one giant pain in the ass for mankind.” Hemorrhoids have become one of the world’s biggest problems literally, as eighty percent of the population has hemorrhoids.

It may be hard to accept, just as hard when one is constipated that the world is plagued by things that are such a pain in the ass. But people just by their very nature, don’t just sit back and let them be bullied. People tend to fight back, they look for ways to get rid or prevent bad things from happening. That is why as the gifted smart people we are, we should not let a small pain in the ass get in our way of feeling comfort in the bathroom.
The following suggestions are the best ways of preventing hemorrhoids.

Changing one’s diet is a must if you’re a person who eats relatively few fruits. A person whose diet is mostly high in animal and protein may suffer from hemorrhoids. This is due to the fact that fiber-poor diets cause the bowel to be smaller, drier, and harder to pass. So eating raw vegetables and fruits as well as brand and oatmeal definitely helps in preventing hemorrhoids. It helps make the stool softer and easier to pass. At least if you’re child doesn’t want to eat fruits and vegetables; all you have to do is scare them with the thought or a picture of a hemorrhoid.

Try to also avoid drinking to much alcohol, as it causes the stool to dry up and you may end up being constipated. Drinking too much coffee has the same effect. Drinking water also helps, as it helps digest fiber-enriched food. Drinking six glasses of water a day will help out in softening one’s stool.

Another way to prevent hemorrhoids is to change bathroom habits. If one takes longer than 2-5 minutes to defecate, one should consider cutting down that time. As one person hangs around longer in the toilet bowl, there’s a chance for him to strain his anal veins. So don’t even think about reading a whole novel or a magazine, when you are defecating. Just get those simple Archie digest that are very short read.

If defecation is very difficult for you, don’t force the issue. It’s best for you to wait a while and just run to bathroom when you really need too. Postponing it for too long is also not suggestible. Postponing bowel movement causes the stool to be harder.

Always remember to keep the anal area really clean and do not rub it with excess toilet paper.

The last advice to prevent hemorrhoids from becoming a regular resident on your ass is exercise. Stop being such a stationary person that people might mistake you for a pole. Being immobile in a standing or sitting position causes the vertical organs and your intestine pushes down and applies pressure in your rectal area. So if your work requires you to sit around all day, try moving around for even a minute. Because a minute of stretching is better than an hour in an operating table.

Hemorrhoid prevention has really become a hard task to prevent. This is due to the fact that more and more people are becoming lazier (me include) and also eats more unhealthy food as well. I admit that in my future, I may be a victim of hemorrhoids.

After reading all these scary things that a hemorrhoid does to a person, I’ve personally decided to change my lifestyle. In my own words, it may seem like a giant leap to change lifestyles, but at the journey of a thousand miles always starts with a single step.

My first step will be to the gym and to the bathroom, what are yours?
